BEE Anglia identifies over £1m of energy savings

BEE Anglia identifies over £1m of energy savings for Suffolk and Norfolk Businesses.

Businesses in Suffolk and Norfolk can ‘BEE’ greener and save money for free, thanks to the BEE Anglia project launched earlier this year. European funding was approved just in the nick of time to help Norfolk and Suffolk businesses grow sustainably while cutting their energy costs.

To date the project has reviewed 107 organisations and identified cost savings of £1,133,401 (£10,593 per business), and carbon savings of 16,042t (150t per business).  The savings identified are the equivalent of 4768 flights from London to Sydney.

We took on a new premises earlier this year and needed some support with the renovations to part of the building to create an artist studio, teaching facility and gallery space.  We got in touch with BEE Anglia and they conducted a free review.  It was great to know we were on the right track and to receive some additional suggestions and expert support.  The subsequent report identified opportunities for significant savings.  The implementation of the suggested measures can easily be incorporated into the overall renovation plan.  We are currently going through the grant application process to hopefully receive financial support for the proposed improvements.

The BEE Anglia project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and is being delivered across the region through a partnership of Groundwork, Norfolk County Council, NWES and Suffolk County Council.

Cllr Matthew Hicks, Cabinet Member for Environment and Public Protection at Suffolk County Council said “This is a great milestone, and shows the significant potential for financial savings that can be unlocked when businesses have access to independent expert advice.  We look forward to working with more businesses across Suffolk and Norfolk to help them thrive in a sustainable manner”

The project has three core offers that have been designed to help businesses reduce carbon and save money using independent advice, funding and recognition for their efforts.

Free Energy Reviews - Our energy experts will visit the business’ premises to conduct a free, impartial and independent review that identifies the best cost and carbon saving opportunities.

Grant Funding - BEE has a limited pot of European funding to support participating businesses to implement innovative energy efficiency measures.

Carbon Charter Accreditation - Help your business stand out from the crowd with the Carbon Charter – fully funded by the BEE project.
